Speaker 1: From the premier league. It’s the official fancy premier league podcast. It’s all new for 2020 as we look at new year’s day football, new manager bounces and hear from you and your FPL new year’s resolution.
Speaker 1: Well hello fancy managers are very happy new year and congratulations on getting through the busy festive period that has seen us survive four deadlines in less than two weeks. It has though got all a bit too much for our James and after a storming December he has taken himself off for a lie down. So I’m in the studio today, Kelly Summers alongside the man. The myth, the mystery of FPL is still storming ahead of me and most people in the guest league and as if he needs reminding Joe’s welcome back. Thank you. Thank you. It’s great to start the year top of the table and again I would say I need to speak to whoever’s is [inaudible] can share that. Oh, we’re coming to Joe’s. We’re coming for you. Anyway, moving on. Also joining me in the studio, Jeff dance, a fancy football scout and Jeffrey, you are once in the top 50 in the world.
Speaker 1: I believe I was not this year, but I think jewels isn’t even there yet. I was trying to do up. And finally a man that has proved that the trials and tribulations of FPL can survive anything. Even marriage is FTL families. Very own Layla. Thank you for being with us. Kelly. I don’t know what’s worse at the moment, living with Sam or having to be here with yours in the studio. So the lesser of two evils being here today. Let’s be fair. You can’t escape. Can you? Because yours has been a little bit unbearable. Let’s look at the weeks so far because as we are recording this, we do still have one match to play. Liverpool versus Sheffield United. Jules, you are currently sitting on 28 points, not the top score in the room, but you have still got trends, Alexander Arnold and Sadie Omani to play as we record.
Speaker 1: Um, and you also got cameras come in for body happy with that. No, and you know what, I’ve, I’ve really struggled the uh, in this festive player. I think it brings a lot of stress to just think because there’s not much time between the deadlines and you need to think like if you were primarily managers before each team that you have a player representing in your team. And I find it really overwhelming and hard to just think, okay, who would I rotate in real life? Who is Brandon Rogers going to rotate or you’re going to club or [inaudible] you know, whoever and I, yeah, I really struggled to to get the right balance so I just can’t wait for a break. And you know, obviously the pressure of being what you’ve done here, you’ve been listening to young clop talking about the fixtures and mining and [inaudible] because the games come so quick and fast and just like, yeah, I think Joe’s isn’t used to being so high in the table and when you’re that high up, it is special because you don’t want to lose that position. You’ve got Jeff, congratulations. You’re currently beating Joe’s 40 points as it stands with Cutler to come in. What about the 10 50 points? And I’ve got money. My captain, kayak
Speaker 2: Vardy has captain and Manet’s vice captain. So I’ve, I’ve got Joel’s beat this week. Um, it’s quite a, quite a nice, uh, boost and rank there and I’m kind of creeping up the table slowly, which is what you want to do in the second half of the season. Yeah, it certainly does. Certainly has been impressive. Levi [inaudible] because [inaudible] liaison better than you this way. You’re currently on 42 points. Are you happy with that? I’m happy with it. Particularly as that 42 becomes a, what’s my maths like 55 ones? Greenish comes. So I’ve got the biggest, well, well done, but the biggest slice of luck ever I was, I was delighted when Jamie Vardy was not in the traveling squad for the foxes. So that 13 means I’m on 55. I have Sala and Trent to play. So yeah, I like Jeff shipper decent green arrow this way. Um, likewise with you guys.
Speaker 2: I’m on 33, so not too bad, but I do have greenish on the bench. I was one of the few people that was happy when Jamie Vardy wasn’t in the squad. Not that I ever liked to see a play injured. Of course, Jamie Vardy though he was most owned and the most captained didn’t start. What did we all think when we saw that team sheet? Well, two games, two games in a row now I think, I certainly thought he’d be back and so did so many people. I knew I had a decent bench though. I think one of the things we’ve talked about over Christmas is that you need to make sure that you’ve got a bench every week so that if somebody doesn’t play, uh, you’ve got somebody to come in. That didn’t happen as much over Christmas, but now it happened and I think a lot of people had Cantwell on the bench.
Speaker 2: A few people had grillers on the bench. If you have a bench there, then then you can kind of take advantage when other people suffer a little bit. He’s so highly owned as well as an ANSI highly captain. The game week 21 that I think when all said and done on this game weekend, the curtain comes down on it. There will be a lot of vice captains kicking in. So just because you’ve got a green arrow right now may turn to red by the end of the game week. So yeah, the Vardy factor is a, is going to play a big, big role in our, in our overall ranks coming into the game. What are you guys thinking of doing with him? Because obviously as you said there Jeff, two blanks. Do we hold him? He’s quite a lot of money in our squads. I think he’s going to come back in, in after the ethic of game 2%.
Speaker 2: Uh, and you would think that after everything that’s happened in the family and the, you know, the new arrival of the baby is going to be well happy and eager, really eager to come back I think to, to playing because now surely. Yeah. Yeah. So you know, a few players slip in a different room when the babies that small because yeah. Yeah. Because obviously it’s very important for them to sleep well and all of that. Not that they don’t like the baby or the wife before everyone sends abuse, but it’s just like so they could keep the routine for sleeping, especially in the afternoon and also at nighttime, so hopefully it’d be on good form. The fixtures for him are nice as well. It seems crazy to sell them, but maybe it makes sense with, with some fixtures coming out for Liverpool especially, maybe, maybe it makes sense to shift some of that money. It, I don’t think I want to do it, but he can score. Maybe it’s Liverpool. He’s proven this season that you can score against anybody, so he sees a whole for me, definitely we update from Rogers. Post-match was that he had a tight cough, he was unavailable, was getting treatments, but the work that he’d done at the training ground had gone well and had physios
Speaker 1: happy, so they’re going to see how he is for the FAA. Coplin of course, I’ve got the EFL cup semifinal, so definitely one for us to monitor. Something else that I’ve been monitoring, Lindstrom, we’ve all got him and he’s the most transferred out as we are recording now. We will benched him this week. Is anyone considering selling him?
Speaker 2: I couldn’t believe that when I saw that on the agenda today, Luna for people selling the Lord. I mean it’s crazy. I mean I listen, this guy will all have a lot of team value tied up in him as well. So if you go into sell him, be prepared to pay more for him if you do want him back. Um, is there a case for selling? I don’t know. He’s not picked up enough FPL points in the last two or three weeks. But listen, this guy is out of position. He’s the number seven for a very good shepherd United side. I will definitely be hold it. One other thing that he’s got is that he’s one of those players that when he plays at home, you know he’s going to do a lot better than he will away. And when you can kind of target fixtures like that, that for me means he is still a cheap defender. If you can have him and target the home fixtures, that makes them even better option. Again, he’s one of those strong bench. If you have a strong bench, we can almost rotate him and playing when starting in, when, when he’s at home and then put him on a bench when he’s away. Especially depending on your position, but I don’t know, I’m thinking there’s other shifted United players now I think could bring more points. Boards. We should all be copied engines.
Speaker 2: Yeah. I just feel that he’s lost a bit of magic. You know that magic that do Coolray had last season at some point I learned from him when no one expected him to do that well, especially in our game. And then at some point that is disappearing. So would you move from an instrument to another chef? Would United defender jewels or go out of their Libby? You know, I do think that especially their center bags can, can be a bigger threat on set pieces, for example. And maybe more goals would come to that or the wing bikes could create more assists then the Nordstrom, maybe, I just don’t know. It’s, it’s a, it’s a really tricky one. This one.
Speaker 1: Well, that was how we did in game week 21 let’s now recap on all of the main talking points
Speaker 3: [inaudible].
Speaker 1: Well, at the time of recording game week 21 is almost a complete, we’ve still got Liverpool versus Sheffield United to go, but let’s look back on the games that we have seen. It all kicked off on new year’s day with Brighton versus Chelsea. All eyes really in that game on our Chelsea assets. We’ve talked a lot about them. Lee, I know you were talking about Tammy before he got another assessed. Is now really the time to sell him.
Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you know what? He’s in my team right now and up until I think game week 20, I was dead set on selling him. Um, and then he’s returned a golden an assessed in the last two games and all of a sudden you think, Oh, maybe I’ll keep him and he’s got Burnley at home next. And we’ve seen how bad Burnley have been so far or how I’ll have been in the last few weeks. So I don’t think I’m going to sell him ahead of that game. Um, against Brighton we had three penalty box such as only two shots as well. So yes, he got the assist, but he just didn’t really pass the eye test to me in that game. His underlying stats didn’t look that great, so I keep him for Burnley. But then after that I might, I might can read, reconsider you’re not worried of the poor former home against team like Burnley who will play quite deep and defend where like Bournemouth or South Southampton, West Western, all those games they lost against that kind of team because they can create enough in small spaces.
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you’re absolutely right with that. I would say there’s two, two clubs though in the league right now that I would focus on picking FPL players that are playing those teams and Burnley is one of them, but Bournemouth is the other, which we’ll come to later on. But Bernie look, uh, really, really outsource right now. And, and even that Chelsea side at home, even if Bernie played the low block, I think they can find a way through. One of the things with them is that he’s always there for, for crosses as well. So maybe if they’re not breaking teams down, but throwing lots of crosses into the box, Tammy can can come away with something there. It doesn’t seem like a fixture that you want to sell him for. Even if longterm, maybe he’s not a great pick. I agree. One Chelsea ply that has caught the eye in the past few weeks, not against Brighton and, but it’s William only owned by 6% applies just over.
Speaker 2: He would actually fit into our differential section, which we are going to do later on. He’s actually now the second highest score for Chelsea after Abraham. Is he someone that should be on our radar? Jules, do you think? I don’t think so. I used to inconsistent for me. I mean it’s, the potential is obviously there and we saw against spurs down on a good day. He’s very efficient, but the rest I was at the game against Southampton for example. And there’s a lot, there’s a, in the final third, there’s a lot of games where I think he’s been too anonymous and I think, I just think he’s not good enough, uh, to put money on him and to invest in him if, if, if you’re not sure, Abraham is a different one because the quality’s there and they would create chances for him and you know, he could, it could bring enough point in, but William, it’s like policy-driven mounds.
Speaker 2: I just don’t think they’ve got that fluidity anymore. I just think they look a bit, Jay did all of them to be fair and I’m not sure about shapes he plays right now there’s a bit of rotation risk as well with the midfielders. William has started most games, but with mountain and poor a as well. Uh, any given game week, you’re kind of worried are they going to start or they’re not going to start as well as not really returning and some bad fixtures. It, it seems like it’s all coming together to get rid of our Chelsea assets right now. So maybe worrying times for Chelsea and also potentially worrying times for spurs who lost a weight at Southampton. Lee, I think I’m probably glad that Sam isn’t here today in the nicest possible way because I imagine she’s pretty unhappy. We all jumped on spurs when Joe Samaria first came in, particularly the likes of deli.
Speaker 2: Allie, has the honeymoon period come to an end? Would you say, what does a pretty short honeymoon period if it’s already come to an end, isn’t it? I think, um, it’s the manner in which spurs are losing those games as well. They’ve been very Jacqueline hides since Joseph Rooney has come in. They’ve had a couple of really good results. They, I think they beat Bernie five new at home for example. You can’t say anything about that result other than that’s a good performance. Um, and whenever they come up against the team that sort of tactically knows how to play them. Like Manchester United did a few weeks ago, uh, Chelsea put three at the back and played really, really well, really well against them the other way. Um, and then Samson
Speaker 4: played well against them as well. So they are Jacqueline Hyde right now. If you’ve invested in Allie, if you’ve invested in Kane, um, I think it might be time to move them on. You know, maybe not Ali, but Kane definitely one of the interesting things with sun being out is he, he was kind of dragging them along. He scored that one or goal, I forget who it was against, but only four weeks ago. Yeah. And he seemed to kind of be dragging them up and making sure that they looked like they were a decent, decent size. It’s been three weeks now without him and they haven’t looked like a solid site at all really. So I’ve got Ali, I’m kind of thinking maybe when sung gets back, things change a little bit. The fixtures are still good, but do you think when sun comes back Jeffy plays up front on his own because we’ve saw cane picks up a bit, the hamstring injury in that game against our Hampton and the song comes in.
Speaker 4: It’s one of those ones where I think he probably will, but then how does that actually affect the other assets? So is that going to help sun or help alleys? Is Allie going to be running past son or his son have enough pace there? Can sun hold the ball up? It’s whenever some big kind of tactical thing like that happens. I get a little scared for the other assets because we don’t really know what’s going to happen. I think that should be a total change of system for spurs when you think about it. Their whole mentality since Marina has come in is to find Kane and Kane to drop off those balls to the willing runners on the each of either side, be that Maura or Sesame on. Um, so with sauna up there I don’t necessarily see some taking that, that sort of mentality towards the game. He’s more of an in behind dynamic kind of runner. So as a counter attacks, I mean maybe maybe that means in the harder games they can counter attack more effectively cause Sonny can actually run with pace. But yeah, a little little bit worrying. I think
Speaker 1: someone’s price is now down to 9.8 it was up to 10.1 so if you do want to move now his price is low. They’ve got some quite nice fixtures. Liverpool next tricky what foot trickier than maybe it would have been a couple of months ago. Then Norridge Manchester city and Villa. So if you are considering spurs players, that’s is the fixture list for them. Now this leads me on very nicely because I actually had my wild card. I used it the last possible week. I didn’t really want to and I actually had Kane and I wanted to free up funds for my midfield. So I bought in Donny NGS. I know I need you to prove of that. Seem to be as a bizarre move, but actually it has paid off and Joe on social media has actually been asking us about Dunning’s or another player who’s shown signs of good form of late Dominic. Calvin.
Speaker 5: Well come on, come on. There was not even a debate. Dining’s is the man, Danny’s is the man. I mean Calvin Lewin has done well with uh, with, with Ancelotti. But, but you also saw against man city that you know, if the quality in the crosses is not there or if he doesn’t get a bit of Logue somehow, like, like his first goal, the game we previously then, then he also struggles I think to create anything. He’s not that kind of player in any way. I’m not even sure if you’ve sent a, Ford is actually his best position. Full stop. So I will go for that. You can’t talk about luck and Danny NGS in the same time, the amount of a goalkeeper, but Danny NGS is cut. He did a goalkeeper’s pass it to him. [inaudible] where’s the [inaudible] still looking for the border somewhere.
Speaker 1: He is now the sixth highest score in is ahead of the likes
Speaker 2: of Salar Sterling and Abraham. 13 goals and an assist this season is now owned by over 18% on polices are and one of them. Uh, but yeah, certainly a man in form. So no Calvert Lewin, if he’s up against Danielle. But Jeff Calvert Lewin for you, is he a viable option? Because we saw in particularly in the first couple of games in charge under Rancha Lotty, some really good signs. I think he’s an option and I would actually go against yours here and say I think he’s a better option than Dennings for the next four game week. So the next four game weeks at Southampton, I had to have Lester away wolves at home and Liverpool away as well as a against crystal crystal palace. So in those four games, if you’re looking for a, for a striker in that kind of price bracket, then I actually think that Calvert Lewin is a, is a better pick.
Speaker 2: They look so attacking on range Lottie with with everyone just pouring forward all the time. And I just see that continuing I think. I think both Duncan Ferguson and Carla and chilottie have both really big him up publicly saying that he can be the best in the league. You can be your best in Europe. I think I saw from actual Lottie now whether Angie Laci believes that or not, he’s come into Everton. He’s given one of his key young players, a load of confidence to go and do and be express, express himself on the pitch. Um, and that’s translating into, you know, just goals, but FPL points. Um, the one thing I would say is I think it’s a case for both. By the way, I think either of you are wrong here. Yeah. Both really, really good picks. Don’t make Calvert Lewin because he’s got that, that boost him his manager right now on the fixtures and Danny NGS because frankly he’s done, he export fantastic value. He’s been a season. Absolutely right. Yeah. 6.7 million Dunning’s is now talking of new managers, positive signs under Angela Acia, Everton, and very positive for arsenal on Wednesday night beating Manchester United to now the big headline for FPL managers was attune. Elwin and Obama yang didn’t return. Could this be the change for us as FPL managers looking at arsenal jars? I know you watch a lot of arsenal. Have you liked what you’ve seen?
Speaker 5: Yes, I was at the game against United. Um, I suddenly got a paper him who was, as you would imagine, over the moon and it was his member’s birthday as well. So scoring with these Marines stadium on over there too. It was like, and he, he really hoped this is, this is the moment where he finally kickstart is he’s asked Korea and he’s any season. He’s been really tough for him the first six months and now with artists that come in with that sort of new attitude from the team and even going forward, more movement for him. There’s also more space, a time for the, for that fund for with OZO Obama. I can, like I said, I think one of those, one of those, especially paper, like I said, Obama young because I think [inaudible] see, be more of a creator, maybe second assist, even more than assist and goals. I think that there’s value in that. It’s a lot of money for some of them. I, you know, I get that, but I think if you look at the fixture crystal palish if you’re in it, then there’s the Chelsea returned fixtures away and then barely and Newcastle before Everton a home as well. It’s interesting
Speaker 2: [inaudible] and there’s kind of the theme in the league and in today’s show because there’s been some very good work at Watford from Nigel Pearson. You spoke about him last week, Delphi you into Qure with a big point score is this week as well. Gerald Diller Fe, Jeff, someone you’re considering 6.1 million. I don’t think I have a spot in my team forum probably because I want to go cover it Lewin but I think he is a really nice option. Three attacking returns in three game weeks, only 2.3% ownership and like you said, they’ve been playing well the fixtures are good. It’s kind of a, he kind of seems like an overlooked pick by a lot of people in migraine. I think what’s interesting about the Nigel Pearson, new manager bounce is that it’s coming sided with the return of Troy Deeney as well. Now, Troy Deeney adds so much more to that Watford side than just being an half decent striker.
Speaker 2: He’s a leader. He pulls the game up by the Scruff of the neck and I think that benefits Delphi. Oh, so a word on Ben foster, the joint second scoring goalkeeper in the game that got Bournemouth away. Next, if you do want to consider what Fidessa, it’s also a word on West ham United. David Moyes his first game in charge. Our first opportunity to look at our FPO assets. Lee, is it a little bit early for us to get too excited and jump on the Westham bandwagon? Yes, for me is said more about the opposition, I think than than Westham. But uh, you definitely keep an eye on them, but uh, yeah. Wait and see for me. Well that’s our recap of the main talking points from game week 21 of course, again recorded before Liverpool versus Sheffield. United reminder if you do want to join our mini league and like me witness being beaten by the likes of chores every single week you can join the code is a six ACU P eight K Q. Now it’s time for the long view
Speaker 3: [inaudible]
Speaker 2: so now it is time for the long view where we don’t just look ahead to the next game week. We have low look a little bit further ahead to the next few game weeks and pick out some potential players. You could make the difference to our sides. Our opportunity guys have a little look and a longer term picture and kind of get planning. We’ve got a bit longer to look at how our teams have done and where exactly we think we need to change things around which teams do you think we have good fixtures? Ones that you are maybe targeting a well if I look at the the some of the fixture tick is born with the right up there but given their former, I just can’t look at them right now. I just can’t live a pour up there as well. Particularly after the double game.
Speaker 2: We can 24, which we’re all kind of we know about and we’re planning for the fixtures after that from 25 onwards look sensational. So if you can hold your liquor pal assets through spurs away and then Manchester United at home. Um, the fixtures for Liverpool looks sensational, so I’ll absolutely be targeting those guys as well as the other side of Merseyside Everton, they look good as well for a few weeks. So Dominic Cavett Lewin that Jeff mentioned before, he’s going to get a look in, um, as well as CDB as well. Like the look of him at the back forever tendencies. My wildcard, he hasn’t produced anything yet, but he’s getting forward. I think he’s, well he’s got a couple of assists on the season already. Have him then. Nothing for you, you mean? Okay. But no, I think if I look at some of the heat maps and where he’s getting and where he’s playing in the pitches, it’s right up there.
Speaker 2: So in a very late, in Bain’s esque way, he could be a nice FPL asset for us over the next five or six weeks. Yeah, we mentioned him in the last show as well and the fact that [inaudible] he likes to play or I split or read two of his three games with about three and which pushes city beer forward as a, as a right wing bag, which is obviously much better for him because he’s better going forward in defense than defending and because as well he’s got that sort of quality. The quality with his crossing that I think could be very beneficial then to recharge as soon and kind of a Lewin like the boys have said, yeah, he’s just 5.3 million. We’ve talked before in previous FPL asset was Luca Dean, he’s 5.7 if you do want a cheaper wing back at Everton, then looking at Sydney Bay could be worth it.
Speaker 2: Jewels, Manchester city, we haven’t talked too much. We women talked about them at all. Yet their fixtures aren’t too bad as well. Are you considering anyone from there other than the likes of Kevin de Debona? So the, the, the, the worry I have obviously is like everyone else’s pipes rotation because you just never really know who’s going to play with it. [inaudible] Jesus who is in grad form and you could, you could be thinking about Jesus to bring in your team. I have to say I like the look of real Mara is I like how Pepys playing him. I like how much pepper spraying him. If you look at the last, his last return, 5.6 points, one point and then eight points as well. So he brings you points and he’s only owned by 4.8% I think. So it’s an interesting differential but that’s, if he plays, and I think with Debbie silver coming back from injury, there might be less opportunities for marriage to play.
Speaker 2: But I still think that if you’ve got the money is an interesting pick. I think the one city picked it. Everyone has where everyone is looking to get as Kevin and Brian and who’s at 50% ownership, he just keeps taking over. I think he’s the one to go for. Maybe you double up with somebody, but as we saw Sterling being rested, it’s really tough to guess who’s going to start, who isn’t going to start with Katie Bay as well. Jeff, it’s, it’s hard to know whether what sort of position he’s going to play when he plays in that more advanced role. You can always guarantee yourself a 1516 points or an FPL, but when he’s more reserved than he’s sitting back a little bit more than you’re going to get frustrated with the two or three, so he’s hard to know when to put the armband on it.
Speaker 2: It’s certainly the last game week against Everton, I thought, especially in the second half, he just was kind of sitting in front of the defense spraying balls to everyone up ahead of him, but he wasn’t actually getting into those advanced positions. He wasn’t taking shots. He wasn’t providing the final, final ball that someone would would shoot from. So very interesting how he’s positioned and who else is in the team who might change his position around the next three fixtures for Manchester city are quite appealing. Aston Villa away, crystal palace at home, Sheffield, United away. Then they’ve got a tricky fixture away at spurs and then Westham at home. So if you are considering Manchester city assets, that is their upcoming scheduled Liverpool as well. They’ve got the double game week coming up. Jeff, we’ve got to start looking at getting maximum livable players on our team.
Speaker 2: Surely I think so. I think you want three for gaming, 24 and then like we said before, 25 26 and 27 are all nice fixtures as well. And when you look at Tottenham and Manchester United, I think the United game, anything can happen in that. They can score it and start them usually. So if you’ve got Liverpool players, you definitely hold them. If you, if you want to bring them in for 24 maybe you go early a little bit because the, especially Trent and Robertson, they can score talking returns in any game week. Like we saw with Trent when he got three assessed Senegal. So maybe it’s time now to get ahead of the game. Well the guys have been answering my questions so far. Next up we’ll be answering yours. [inaudible]
Speaker 2: well this week’s Wednesday tweets was as we enter 2020 what are your new year’s resolutions for your FPL team? I’m hoping you guys are better at keeping you as resolutions than I am cause I am useless so there’s no point me even making any my FPL team come on like what are you doing before we hear from the listeners, what’s your resolution? When I think for me, one of the things that I tended to do quite a lot over Christmas as well as overindulge was to overindulge in transfers and hits because the game weeks are coming thick and fast. You’ve always got a transfer in your pockets. I felt like I needed to spend it to sort of keep up, especially if I was having a bit of a flaky game week where I’ve tended to do well this season is where I bank that transfer rolled.
Speaker 2: It had the two there to do some kind of minor surgery to my team and typically that minor surgery has kind of paid off. So my new year’s resolution is to stay patient wherever I can roll that free transfer so that I’ve got to so that I can make bigger changes to my team. So patients, I think it’s funny you should say that because FPL fraud, yes, that really is his name was said stop making hasty decisions like my last three sales, all this is pretty painful. Trent NGS and greenish. Well hope we didn’t sell Trent 24 points or no, I’m kind of understanding why his name’s FPL fraud. Maybe now Joe’s, you’re not a fraud LRU or maybe you are. And we’re going to move out. What’s your new year’s resolution going to be? Stay on top of the league. You know,
Speaker 5: I’m kidding. I am kidding. Um, do you know what I think the, the, the idea is since we started the, for me the show, and this is the, the first, first season I’ve taken really, really seriously. He’s, he used to go with, with my guts and keep going with that. And I think [inaudible] was the prime example and even Jimmy value, although Jeff laughed at me last week, but they, they, they, there would be time where you think, do you know I’ve got a feeling that this player is going to do well? And you look at the pictures and you look at form and you look at the way that team is playing and you go, okay, it might not make much sense for a lot of people. However, I think there’s an interesting thing there and then, and just go for it. And it might work.
Speaker 5: It might not work. We’ve, we’ve, we’ve all had some that worked and some that didn’t work is part of the game. Uh, but I think just continuing fitting your, um, going with your guts, what’s been your best transfer that you’ve done with just your guts? Dining’s has to be, how to feeling at the start of the season that things could go well for him because like I’ve explained when I played him, I just think they create a lot of chances. Why are you, why are you shaking your heads? Because I think that created a lot of chances and, and you didn’t believe me and you should have.
Speaker 2: Yeah, come on then Jeff, don’t listen to Joe’s. What’s your new year’s resolution then? You’re not doing as badly as people are making out here? No, no. Other than knocking Jules off the top of the [inaudible] and I implore all of the listeners to make that resolution as well. But come on Jeff. I think for me, one of the things I do early in the season every year is I make transfers a little bit early in the week. So if I see someone rising in price then I go for them right away. But then in the second half of the season, kind of after Christmas, I try to wait until the deadline. You never
Speaker 4: know if this could be an injury. I built up some nice team value now, so now it’s time for me to spend that team value and kind of take advantage of my news resolution for the second half of the season as well is, is to wait and not make transfers in the week before, especially before champions league games. Wait until all the games are done, see kind of where I’m at and then spend that money that I’ve built up in my team.
Speaker 1: Alison could take heat of that this week as well of course cause there is no game week this weekend. Um, I did say I don’t make resolutions, I like to say positive change that I’m going to try and make. You know I actually share this one of our listeners that said, I’ve always tried to keep one player per team on my FPL but I need to start having more than one from a team. It’s working for everyone else in my league that’s coming from James and James. I think that’s a brilliant point. I have always struggled with having two Liverpool defenders. Now I don’t, I don’t have one player per team obviously because I have, I’ve got two less suppliers at the moment. I’ve had three, I’ve got to Liverpool at the moment, but I’ve always struggled to double up on a defense. So I’ve never had Trent and Robertson, but I’m now going to actually change that because the weeks they keep a clean sheet, the fact they are keeping more clean sheets now as well and they get attacking returns.
Speaker 1: So I’m going to stop being so stubborn like that. Um, one thing I can never do is I’m convinced I jinx players. Um, so I put players in against my team in the hope that I jinx them. I need to stop doing that. Stop doing that. Anyway, a few more of your tweets. Thank you so much for sending them into an official FPL. Um, Krisha says never get spurs players. Never captain Kevin did Rona. If he played in saying the week before, never bet against Louis dunk. Well that’s quite, that’s quite a hard thing to do. You obviously are going to keep Louis Dunkin, your team the whole time. It never gets spurs players. We just said that maybe now isn’t the best time to have spurs players, but I cannot jump on the bandwagon of never kept into bro and every played in saying the week before. That is crazy.
Speaker 1: I suppose what we said before though, isn’t it? If he has a great week, he’s then might just drop back and not have such a great week. So I actually can see where that’s coming from. But you with him, you never know when the biggest points holes around the corner and he can hit you really hard if you don’t capture them. So risk Liberty has said no Manchester United assets, I mean off the back of the arsenal game. I can understand why Liberty might’ve said that, but ANSI Marshall has been really popular as well. Yeah. So I think that maybe no Manchester United assets for whole year could see you being punished slightly. Thank you to everyone who does send in your questions. That is a wrap for them this week. Next up it is time to try and give you the advantage in your many leagues. It’s essential differential
Speaker 3: [inaudible] so
Speaker 1: you know the drill by now, players with ownership of a less than 10% constitute a differential. These can be so key in an FPL season. Coming to Lee, who has caught your eye of late or who do you think could be one to monitor the team that’s caught my eyes. What food? Obviously since Nigel Pearson’s come in, but a player that’s particularly caught my eye is Ishmael sr. now he’s got um, three goals, two assists so far this season took his time to get into the team. But as we mentioned before with the impact of Dini coming in, a leader on the field benefiting Della FAO, I think it’s also benefiting,
Speaker 4: saw, um, passes the eye test to me looked great in the summer for Senegal nought 0.7% owned. So real, real differential ahead of what is a reasonable one to fixtures for
Speaker 5: for Watford. So yeah, Ishmael sr returned in his last two games as well. So similar, it’s a similar dynamic to Pippi to be fair. Blows arrived from legal ways to so different and saw and pepper were two of the best players we had in France last season and I think they were, it was always going to take a bit of time for either of them and others in that situation to come here and adapt, especially when their teams were not doing well, which was the problem. If your team is doing great, it’s easy for you to integrate and to play your own game and everything when it’s not the case, you take maybe a bit longer to adapt. And I think now both sides, Pepe, I interesting because it looks like they’ve turned the corner, they’ve adapted, they feel better physically as well, and the more used to the league and maybe now they’re gonna really, uh, play their own game and bring a lot off points for people who have them and the managers coming in and benefits potentially.
Speaker 5: Pearson said this week that he wants to give those attacking players like denify and saw the opportunity and the freedom to go forward and do what they can do. Come on then. What is your gut saying, Mike? Micah say the up did I do cool, but because we’ve already done Watford, we, I went for someone else and I like a Dan Webster from Brighton. Okay. It’s not always bringing you a lot of points, although his, his form is 3.6. So it’s interesting and he’s done quite well, especially the thread that you present on. So PCs and you know, he’s chords, it’s called against the against bursts for example. So I like, I don’t, I don’t like the look of him. He’s big, he’s in here because I trying to justify the selection by flailing his arms around. [inaudible] very passionate about them. Webster clearly he’s on by 0.6, uh, of, of managers, 0.6% of managers.
Speaker 5: So it’s a huge differential. Uh, if you go for him and Brighton, that’s the other thing. Have a great run of fixtures coming up there. You know, if you, if you look at them, they, the old games that they can not concede and win. And, and he I think again would be a big threat on said PCs because he’s like 10 foot five or something. So just keeping him in mind. I think she probably say at this point, that could be a slight exaggeration, but Brighton do have very good fixtures all the way up until game week 30. Jeff, what about you? Anyone slightly left field catching your eye?
Speaker 4: So I’m going to go for fab Jansky for Westham 2.5% ownership. I brought him in last week. Uh, getting rid of the, the goalkeeper that I had who was Henderson, I saw Henderson’s fixtures and didn’t love them. It’s the thing with Pope. Pope has some tough fixtures. Uh, so I think that if you’re looking for a goalkeeper Westham yet, maybe they don’t keep clean sheets all the time, but maybe they will a little bit more often under Moise. They’ve got the double game that coming up there, some nice fixtures there. I think there are two and maybe 25 or 26 around there that are difficult. But I’ll be honest, you make saves in every game. So even if it’s a difficult fixture, he makes a lot of saves. He can get some save points for you.
Speaker 5: It has been a busy few weeks for us, the FPL managers, as we do have the weekend off, we thought we’d now take the opportunities, have a look at what surgery we would like to do with our squats. [inaudible]
Speaker 1: what time can be dangerous. As we know in FPL, especially if your name is Lee Bonfield and you make transfers with your gut, but he’s not going to do that because it’s a new decade. Exactly, and you can’t break a resolution on the 3rd of January, can you? But this does give us a really nice opportunity, doesn’t it, to look at what we’ve done with our squads. Look at those fixtures that we talked about going forward and work out which areas we want to tink with. Jeff, I’m going to kick off with you. What areas have you identified within yours?
Speaker 4: Good. I think again, it’s, once again it’s Liverpool and gave me 20, give me 24 so all my transfers until there are going to be about how can I get solid and I want Mani a trend to Alexander Arnold and then and Salah as well. So I’m looking at Allie out for Sal up probably. And then it’s just how do I find the funds and I’m probably going to go for Culbert Lu and not any gangs, uh, either Abraham or Rashford out to fund that. And then, and then probably my moves longterm will kind of be, gets all in for Ali and then work around that essentially
Speaker 1: demo March. Do you all those live or Boisset is, Barb does sound like a good plan. I will be looking to do very similar with my team as well. Come on then the Messiah.
Speaker 5: Exactly the same. You copied on me. I mean I was gonna say the dream is Salah on top of training and money that I already have and I would be an hourly because, because he’s and his brother again who’s playing now, you know, not Niley himself. So I would need to find around run 3.5 million. I think that’s the idea, uh, by between nine and 24 for the, for the double, the double again weeks. So that’s, that’s the idea. Uh, and then the Korean, maybe Mary’s Webster, other players you’re looking to get rid of to find out. Do you have someone in your team that you want to get? So yeah, I leave for sure. And then I might have two. I’ve got two free transfers before, before the next game, which I’m glad I’m glad about. And then use another one to maybe set Ricardo para and get a cheap defender that would free some money as well. And then maybe, you know, docks on points to get another one in two to make that 3.5 million to get salary. I think he’s really worth it to get, if you’re going to get [inaudible] money and [inaudible]
Speaker 1: onto something great. I think three Liverpool players is a bit of a no brainer as we’ve talked about with the double game. We’re coming up, I’m tempted maybe to go for a double Liverpool defense, um, with, I’ve still got my nice, so keep Manet, but the options are quite nice. It’s quite a nice problem to have. Does worry me about rotation though with those John, but jealous of all the listeners, they’ll be listening to this now knowing that Liverpool vs Sheffield United score, Lee finally we’ve talked to the other guys about what they’re going to do. I know you’re not going to be making these hasty changes anymore, so I’m sure you’ve got a six week plan that you’re going to stick to. Exactly. What are you going to do?
Speaker 4: Uh, well, no, so new year new me. Absolutely right. So I w I’ve got two free transfers in the bank. Uh, and I’ve also got a million in the bank, so I’ve got plenty of time to consider what I want to do. I had a game week 22. Now we’ve got a whole raft of FAA cup games. We don’t know what the rotation is going to look like or what those lineups are going to be like. There’s bound to be an injury or to come out of those FAA cup sizes as well. So I will be sticky and I’ll be holding, waiting for information about the squads, waiting for the press conferences pregame meet 22 and then I’ll make some moves. If I look at my squad, I have both Rico and Taylor at the back at Taylor from Burnley and then Rico from Bournemouth. Both defenses that I don’t think of look very good of late and both defenses that I don’t think I want to invest in. So that would probably be where I spend my fancy pounds. But right now, um, yeah, just, just being patient Kelly waiting and see what happens after you cup. So yeah, sticking to my new year’s resolution.
Speaker 1: So that’s what the guys will be doing. I remind you that you do have an FPL free weekends now as Lee’s told us, we shouldn’t go too wild. Keep an eye on those FPL assets in action for their premier league teams in the FAA cup. Your next deadline will be Friday the 10th of January at 7:00 PM UK time, the podcast. So we’ll be back next week as well. Previewing all of those games. But if I asked, you can’t get enough of FPL in the meantime, head over to premier league.com for the FPL show and FPL. FYI. Thanks again to the most ungracious leader I have ever known. Julian neuron and the man who will also undoubtedly soon be above me. I didn’t even mention that, did I? That I’m above both of you in the legally Bonfield of FPL family and of course Jeff dance of fantasy football scout. James, we’ll be back hopefully next week. Thanks for listening. Bye for now.
